How to Recover a Windows 7 Password

Our home computers can be customized when we leave them open and when kids are around. Kids can make the changes we're not expecting. And if you're fond of visiting websites that are prone to malware and spyware, then you're giving those web publishers the ticket to your personal files and information. 

It is important that you change your password each time you bump into this. Creating a password entails you to remember it all the time or at least store it in a place you can remember. You don't need to be a tech savvy to learn the tricks. As long as you have a removable disk, you should not be worrying too much. 

There could be a number of online resources available to recover in case you lost your password. You can bring your computer to a shop and have the technician reset it for you. Or you resort to third-party companies to do the work. But isn't it rewarding if you reset it by yourself? Of course, it is. You just need a removable disk and follow these steps:

Create a Password Reset Disk
If you logged on to the computer with an administrator account, follow these steps to create a password reset disk:


Step 1: Click Control Panel from Start menu.

Step 2: Choose User Accounts and Family Safety.

 Step 3: Select Change your Windows Password.

Step 4: Insert USB Flash drive or a blank CD. Click Create a password reset disk to the left pane when the USB flash drive or CD becomes available.

Step 5: Click Next.

 Step 6: Click Next.

Step 7: Key in your computer password. Hit Next.

 Step 8: Wait until the password is saved to the disk. Click Next.

 Step 9: Click Finish.

 You password is now saved to your USB flash drive / CD.

Use a Password Reset Disk to recover the password

If you forget your password, you can log on to the computer by using a new password that you create by using the Password Reset Wizard and your password reset disk. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Insert your USB Flash drive or CD.
2. Click Reset password. A welcome screen pops up.
3. Key in a new password and re-type it. Provide also a hint. Make sure you remember it this time.
4. Click Finish to go back to the login screen.
5. Enter your password.
